Terms of Service
Last updated 4 September 2026 · Version 1.0
The rules for using TurtleTime, written as plainly as we could manage. The headings are a guide, the words underneath are the agreement.
1. The agreement
These terms are a contract between you and Social Panda LLC, trading as TurtleTime(“we”, “us”). They apply whenever you use turtletime.ai, including guest previews, accounts, stories, downloads, printed books, share links, the marketplace and partner pages. By using TurtleTime you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information and forms part of these terms. Anything shown at the point of purchase (price, plan allowance, print size, delivery estimate) also forms part of your order.
If you are a consumer in the United Kingdom or the European Union, nothing in these terms takes away rights that your local law gives you and that cannot be excluded by contract.
2. Who can use TurtleTime
- You must be 18 or over to create an account or make a purchase.
- You must be the parent or legal guardian of any child whose photo or details you add, or have that parent or guardian's permission (for example, a grandparent making a gift book with the parents' blessing).
- Children may read and listen to stories together with you, on your account. They may not hold their own account.
- You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details safe and for everything done on your account. Tell us straight away at hello@turtletime.ai if you think someone else has used it.
- Guest previews are for trying TurtleTime. A guest session and everything in it is deleted after 7 days unless you create an account to keep it.
3. Photos and details you add
You keep ownership of the photos, names, notes and other material you add (“your content”). You give us permission to store, copy, resize, analyse and transform your content, and to pass it to the providers named in our Privacy Policy, for one purpose: making, narrating, animating, printing and delivering your stories and running your account. If you choose to share or publish a story, that permission extends to displaying the story publicly for as long as it stays shared or published.
You promise that:
- you have the right to upload each photo, and every person shown in it (or their parent or guardian) is happy for it to be used to make a story;
- you will not upload photos of children who are not in your care without their parent or guardian's permission;
- your content is not unlawful, hateful, sexual, violent, or intended to produce a story that is any of those things;
- you will not try to use TurtleTime to create content that sexualises, endangers or demeans a child. We treat any attempt as a serious breach, close the account, and report it to the authorities where the law requires or allows.
We do not use your content to train AI models and we do not allow our providers to. We do not feature any family's book in our marketing without their express permission.
4. The stories we make
TurtleTime uses generative AI to write and illustrate stories from your content and choices. The illustrated character is an artistic likeness, not a photograph, and the text is generated fresh each time. Please read every page before you print or share a story: AI can misspell a name, misplace a detail or draw a hand with too many fingers. You can edit text and regenerate pages inside the app.
What you get. As between you and us, the finished stories on your account are yours to read, download, print, gift and share with family and friends for personal, non-commercial use, for as long as you like. We keep the rights in our software, prompts, templates, art styles, the TurtleTime name and the Turtle character, and in the general story structures we use for everyone.
Commercial use. If you would like to sell a story or use it commercially, publish it through our marketplace (see below) or ask us first at hello@turtletime.ai.
Previews and unlocked books. Free accounts can make 3 new stories a month and read each one on screen for 7 days. Buying a single story, or holding a paid plan while the story is made, unlocks it for good: it stays on your shelf, can be downloaded and shared, and can be printed. Prices are on the pricing page.
5. Plans, credits and billing
- Payments are processed by Stripe in US dollars. Your bank may apply a conversion rate and fees if your card is in another currency.
- Subscriptions renew automatically each month or year until you cancel. You can cancel any time from the billing portal in your account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for, you keep access until then, and stories made while subscribed stay unlocked.
- Monthly allowances (stories per month, characters, animations) are described on the pricing page. Story allowances count per calendar month and unused stories do not carry over. A long book counts as two stories.
- Single purchases (a story unlock, a page animation, a printed book) are charged once at the price shown when you buy.
- Price changes. We may change prices for new purchases at any time. For an existing subscription we will email you at least 30 days before a price change takes effect, and you can cancel before it does.
- Discounts and partner codes. One discount applies per order. A code from a school, nursery or creator page applies to the items it says it applies to and may be withdrawn if the page is closed. Codes cannot be exchanged for cash.
- Refunds. Because stories are made to order and usable straight away, subscription fees and story unlocks are non-refundable once a story has been generated or unlocked, except where the law requires otherwise or where we got something wrong. If a story fails to generate or a feature does not work, tell us and we will fix it, re-run it or refund it.
- Taxes. Prices include or exclude sales tax and VAT as shown at checkout, based on your location.
6. Printed books
- Printed books are made to order by our print partner from the pages you approve. Check every name, word and picture before you confirm. Once an order is in production it cannot be changed or cancelled.
- Delivery estimates are estimates. Production and shipping times vary by country and season, and customs duties or import taxes for international deliveries are your responsibility.
- Please give a complete, correct delivery address. If a parcel is returned or lost because the address was wrong, we can reprint it at cost.
- If something is wrong with the book, whether damaged in transit, misprinted, or with a binding or colour defect, email hello@turtletime.ai within 30 days of delivery with a couple of photos and we will reprint it or refund it. Your choice.
- Because every book is personalised, we cannot accept change-of-mind returns. This does not affect your statutory rights where goods are faulty or not as described.
7. Cancellation rights for UK and EU consumers
UK and EU law gives consumers a 14-day right to cancel most online purchases, with two exceptions that apply here. When you ask us to generate or unlock a story you are asking for digital content to be supplied immediately, and you acknowledge that you lose the right to cancel once that supply begins. Printed books are made to your specification and personalised, and are excluded from the right to cancel. A subscription can be cancelled within 14 days of starting for a refund of any unused portion, less the value of stories already made.
Your statutory rights in relation to faulty goods or digital content are not affected.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use TurtleTime for anything unlawful, or to harass, impersonate or deceive anyone;
- upload material you do not have the right to use, including other people's photos or copyrighted characters;
- attempt to generate content that is sexual, violent, hateful or otherwise unsuitable for children, or to get around our safety rules;
- scrape, copy, resell or redistribute the service or its content, or use automated tools to make stories at scale;
- reverse engineer, probe or disrupt the service, or share access to your account;
- use discount or partner codes in a misleading way, or promote TurtleTime as a partner in a way that breaches your partner agreement.
We may remove content, limit features or suspend or close an account that breaches these rules. Where a breach involves the safety of a child we act first and explain afterwards.
10. Partner pages and the partner programme
Schools, nurseries, creators and other partners can have a TurtleTime page that gives their families a discount and returns a contribution or commission to the partner. The details of each arrangement, including the discount, the contribution and how and when it is paid, are agreed with the partner in writing and shown on their page where the law requires it. Partners see counts and totals only, never the names or details of the families who use their page. We can close a partner page within one working day of the partner asking, and we may close a page that is misused.
Partners are independent of us. A school or nursery sharing TurtleTime is not endorsing us on behalf of any authority, and we do not pay partners to make claims about educational outcomes. TurtleTime is personalised reading for pleasure at home.
11. Our intellectual property
The TurtleTime name and logo, the Turtle character, our website, software, prompts, templates, art styles, blog posts and demonstration books belong to us or our licensors. You may not copy, adapt or use them except as these terms allow. Feedback and suggestions you send us can be used by us without obligation.
12. Closing your account
You can stop using TurtleTime at any time and ask us to delete your account by emailing hello@turtletime.ai. Download any stories you want to keep first. Cancel any subscription before you ask us to delete, otherwise we will cancel it for you at the end of the current period. Printed orders already in production will still be delivered.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, that has not been used for a long time, or where we are required to by law. If we close your account other than for a breach we will give you the chance to download your unlocked stories and refund any unused subscription period.
13. What we do not promise
We work hard to make TurtleTimedelightful and reliable, but we provide it “as is” to the extent the law allows. In particular we do not promise that stories will be free of errors, that the service will be available without interruption, that any AI model or feature will stay the same, or that TurtleTimewill improve a child's reading or produce any particular educational outcome. We are a bedtime story service, not a teaching programme.
Nothing in this section limits the warranties and remedies that consumer law gives you and that cannot be excluded.
14. Limits on our liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of data you have not downloaded, or losses caused by things outside our reasonable control. Our total liability to you for everything arising from your use of TurtleTime in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in that period and 100 US dollars.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you.
You agree to compensate us for losses we suffer because you uploaded content you did not have the right to use, or otherwise broke these terms, to the extent the law allows.
15. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, United States, and disputes will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Charleston County, South Carolina. If you are a consumer in the UK or the EU you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country you live in, and you may bring a claim in your local courts.
If something goes wrong, please email hello@turtletime.ai first. Most problems are fixed in a day or two by two parents who care about getting it right.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as TurtleTime grows. The date and version at the top will change. For significant changes we will email account holders at least 30 days before they take effect. If you keep using TurtleTimeafter a change takes effect, the new terms apply. If you do not agree with a change you can close your account and, for a subscription, receive a refund of any unused period.
