When the lights went out, Leo heard a small, sniffly sound coming from under his bed. He peeked over the edge and found a little purple dragon, hiding his eyes behind his wings. “I’m Drako,” the dragon whispered, “and I’m a bit afraid of the dark.”

“The dark isn’t so bad,” said Leo kindly. “Come and see.” He held out his hand, and after a moment, Drako took it with one tiny, trembling claw.

Together they padded softly across the room to the window.
