Most personalised books hand you a generic character with roughly the right hair colour. TurtleTime studies your photo and redraws your child as themselves, on every page, in any art style.
One photo is enough to get started. For the most accurate likeness, add up to five — different angles help us capture the details a single snapshot can miss.
Rather than pasting a face onto a template, we write a description of your child's stable identity — hair, eyes, expression, the things that make them them — so every illustration draws from the same understanding, not the same single image.
That description carries across the whole book, and across every art style — classic storybook, 3D movie, anime, watercolour and more — so your child stays recognisably themselves no matter how the page is painted.
We know a photo of your child is about as personal as data gets. It's used for one thing only: generating that child's illustrations in the story you asked for.
We only send it to our AI providers to generate your child's illustrations — under their published API terms, none of it is used to train their models, and we never sell it, share it, or use it for anything beyond your own stories.
Every story is moderated, and you approve everything before it's ever printed.

No. We only send your photo to our AI providers to generate your child's illustrations. Under OpenAI's and Google's published API terms, none of it is used to train their models, and we never sell or share it with anyone else.
A clear, front-on photo in good light works best, but our system is built to work from an ordinary phone snapshot — not a professional shoot. And if you'd rather not upload one at all, you can describe your child instead and skip photos entirely.
Yes — up to five per character. Different angles (front-on, side profile, mid-laugh) all help us get proportions and features right, especially for a character you'll want appearing in several styles.
The goal is a genuine likeness, not a similar-looking stand-in — that's the entire point of studying your photo rather than picking from preset templates. Every story starts with a free preview (the cover and first page) so you can judge the likeness before deciding to keep it.
We built TurtleTimefor our own children first. Safety isn't a setting here — it's the whole point.
